The McDowall State School council guides the broad strategic direction of the school. Official members are the principal and P&C Association president, four elected parents and four elected staff. Total membership is ten. The school council meets at least once per school term.
The school council monitors the school's strategic direction, approves plans and policies of the school that are of a strategic nature, including budget, monitors the implementation of plans and policies and advices the principal about strategic matters. This must be performed in a way that achieves the best learning outcomes for our students.
